Shopping areas


As a bustling city, Kaohsiung is a shopping paradise for visitors. Street vendors and small storefronts with a variety of goods line every street.

 Yancheng Chuehchian Shopping Area
Because of the location close to the Kaohsiung and influx of travelers, Wufushi Road was once a pub street. The shops between Alley 229 to Alley 239 are full of imported products and artifacts. This is a place for visitors to find “treasure”.

Culture Center Area
Culture Center Area covers Linde Street, Linnan Street, Cingnian Street, and Lincyuan Street along both sides of Guangjhou Street. Due to its location, The Culture Center Area is a place for performances and exhibitions. The stores around the area are stylish, including galleries, bookstores, clothing stores and restaurants.

Dream Mall
The place looks as its name, full of colorful images. Dream Mall built its business according to four images of ocean, flower, nature and the cosmos. It provides multi-service functions, including sale, leisure, entertainment, restaurants and art shows. On the top is the 102.5 meter high Hello Kitty Ferris Wheel, which is the only one place in Kaohsiung for people to enjoy a panoramic view of Kaohsiung City and Port.

Dried Food
Sanfengchun Street (Chun Street)
Sanfengchun Street, also called Chung Street is famous for dried food. You can enter it from Chienkuo Third Road.  You can find a series of dried-food shops on the street lasting more than 400-meter long. As the best lunar-New-Year goods choice in southern Taiwan, Sanfengchun Street (Chun Street) is the most popular grocery street in Kaohsiung. It was already a distribution center for imported goods one hundred years ago. Now, it is a main dried food center for people to shop for the lunar New Year every year.

Furniture Bazaar 
The section of Chingnien (Youth) Road between Minchuan Road and Chengkung Road,is the center of   furnishing stores. You can find all kinds of furniture here, including bedding and decorative items.
Here, you can find whatever furniture you are looking for with bargain prices, such as furnishings and decorative accessories. 

 

Activities


Movie Theater
Seeing a movie is one of the entertainments. Don't worry about any language barriers because most English or other foreign language films are shown in their original languages with Chinese subtitles. The exception to this rule is the animated G-rated films that are geared towards children and are usually, but not always, dubbed into Chinese. You can easily find nearby hotels in Kaohsiung.

Disco Pub
As a prosperous city, Kaohsiung has many disco pubs, which are never  missed in a big city. Transitional American ones are more notable among so many pubs in Kaohsiung. Many years ago, American army used to go ashore at Kaohsiung Harbor during their weekends and holidays. This, most of the pubs now are still clustered in Yencheng District, especially around Wufu Fourth Road.

Museums and History
Kaohsiung had been inhabited for a long time, first by aborigines and later by the Han Chinese and then the Dutch. Kaohsiung s museums collect the all information and history for those who want to know more about the past, present, and future of Kaohsiung. The Kaohsiung History Museum frequently rotates exhibits, making it an informative place. The Kaohsiung Science and Technology Museum is the second largest in the world, and the largest in Asia. The interactive exhibits make it an interesting place for kids and an educational one for adults.

Wharf
As a maritime city, Kaohsiung providing great views of the sea and the wharfs, the buildings along riverbank makes this city more attractive. You can start your wharf tour from the famous Love River by sightseeing boat, some piers of Kaohsiung Harbor open to the public, the Pier-2 Art Center in Yancheng District, occasionally held art and culture performfances in the original Taiwan Sugar warehouse. Take a rest at cafes along Love Rive, with music and aromatic coffee, it is a square of art and literary.

Biking
With views of ocean, mountain, harbor and river, a city tour of biking is convenient and flexible, here are itineraries for you to explore Kaohsiung in another way. There are signs, directions, resting kiosks along biking paths, you can find bike shops on Fuye Street in Yencheng District, lots choices of bike shops and cheap used bike there.
