Man Mo Temple
The early Chinese functional center of Man Mo Temple was built after two gods of China in 1847 that reveres the God of Literature, Man Cheong, Man Tai and the God of War, Mo Tai, Kwan Yu. It's located on Hollywood Road in Sheung Wan area in the not-west of Hong Kong Island. Man Mo Temple is an important national monument as a famous traditional Chinese temple for everyone who lives in Hong Kong and manages by the oldest and the largest charitable organization, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals since 1908. The temple is open from 8 am to 6 pm daily.
You will see both of Man Cheong and Mo Tai are situated on the golden altar in Man Mo Temple. Man Cheong holds brush that means him in charge of art and literature and the one who holds long straight sword with green robe is Man Tai, he in charge of military and war. Besides Man Cheong and Mo Tai, God Bao Zheng and Town God are inside Man Mo Temple, too. God Bao Zheng represents justice, and Town God represents livelihood and protects locals. By the way, you will see a coppery incense burner, a large bell and a palanquin near by the gate; these historical relics represent long history of Hong Kong.
