Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall
Established in 1980, National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall (Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall) was built in memory of President Chiang Kai-Shek. Located at the heart of Taipei City, National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall (Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall) is covered with blue glass tiles along with white marble walls and red flowerbeds to represent the colors of the Taiwanese flag that symbolizes independence, equality, and universal love. Since the memorial hall used to be Chiang Kai-Shek’s office, it displays clothing that Chiang Kai-Shek wore during his lifetime in glass windows. The National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall (Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall) also displays historical documents and photographs that have been preserved for long periods of time as valuable historical properties of Taiwan. National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall (Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall) also features National Theater and National Concert Hall, which have the best performing stages in Taiwan. Built in 1987, these two halls have held a great number of international and local performances throughout the years. They are also important sites for art exhibitions in Taipei City.
