National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

Located in Taipei City, National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall was built in memory of the national founding father of the Republic of China, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen. In 1964, the government began drafting the building of the memorial hall. In1965, designer Wang Da-Min’s blueprint was chosen, and it became the foundation of the current memorial hall. On May 16th, 1972, the main construction of the National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall was completed with majestic architecture and placid landscape covering an area of 115,500 square meters.

National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall contains a library with 1.4 million books as well as five large exhibition halls with various displays. The purpose of this memorial hall is to provide a place not only for the remembrance of the founding father, but also for cultural education, leisure recreation, and academic research. The spacious interior of the National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall allows it to feature the largest performance hall in Taiwan capable of holding more than 2,500 people. In addition, the memorial hall is also the perfect place to give speeches and to hold art exhibitions.
